Why Choose Gluten-Free Dark Chocolate S'mores?

The classic S'mores treat, a nostalgic favorite enjoyed around campfires, comprises gooey marshmallows and melted chocolate sandwiched between graham crackers. Traditional S'mores, however, pose a challenge for those with gluten intolerance or who follow a Low FODMAP diet, as standard graham crackers and many store-bought marshmallows contain gluten and high-FODMAP ingredients. Enter our delicious solution: the Gluten-Free Dark Chocolate S'mores Bake! This modern twist on a beloved classic uses gluten-free ingredients and rich dark chocolate, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of dietary restrictions.

All About Dark Chocolate:

Chocolate originated over thousands of years ago with the ancient Mayans and Aztecs in Mesoamerica, who cherished cacao beans as both a drink and a form of currency. Today, several varieties of chocolate are distinguished primarily by their cocoa content and processing methods. Milk chocolate is creamy with lower cocoa content, while white chocolate contains no cocoa solids, only cocoa butter. Dark chocolate, with its higher cocoa content (usually 70% or more), stands out for its deep, robust flavor and health benefits. Packed with antioxidants, dark chocolate has been linked to improved heart health and mood enhancement. Incorporating dark chocolate into our Gluten-Free Dark Chocolate S'mores Bake offers a richer, more sophisticated taste. It infuses the dessert with these beneficial properties, transforming a traditional treat into a delightful and healthier indulgence!

Low FODMAP Sweet Treats:

The FODMAP concept focuses on reducing specific types of carbohydrates—fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols—that can be challenging to digest and often trigger gut discomfort in people with irritable bowel syndrome or similar conditions.

Traditional S'mores include high-FODMAP ingredients like graham crackers and marshmallows, which contain wheat and high-fructose corn syrup, respectively. To enjoy S'mores without the gut distress, swap these out for gluten-free graham crackers and Low FODMAP marshmallows, made with alternative sweeteners. Beyond S'mores, other Low FODMAP desserts include coconut macaroons, almond flour brownies, and fruit-based treats like strawberry sorbet, all of which can satisfy sweet cravings while supporting gut health.

Conclusion:

This Gluten-Free Dark Chocolate S'mores Bake combines the irresistible flavors of classic S'mores with the richness of dark chocolate and the comfort of gluten-free ingredients, making it an easy and delicious treat for all to enjoy. Try this recipe and savor the delightful fusion of gooey marshmallows, melted dark chocolate, and crisp gluten-free graham crackers. Share your experience and let us know how it turned out! Gluten-Free Dark Chocolate S'mores Bake

Servings: 6

Keywords:

  • Prep Time: 5 mins
  • Cook Time: 1 mins
  • Total Time: 6 mins

Ingredients

Instructions

Ingredients

  • 6 gluten-free graham crackers
  • ¼ cup dark chocolate chips, melted
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • 6 Low FODMAP marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Prep pan: place tin foil on the cookie sheet and preheat the oven to broil.
  2. Make smores: On the cookie sheet, lay out six gluten-free graham crackers, spread a thin layer of dark chocolate on top of each cracker, before the chocolate hardens, sprinkle desired seat salt on top of each cracker, then cut your marshmallows in half, place the halves of two marshmallows on top of the chocolate.
  3. Bake: Place the cookie sheet with the assembled smores into your oven, make sure your pan is at least 4 inches away from the broiler. Watch closely, this will take up to a minute or two for the marshmallows to brown. Note each oven is different and do not stop watching the marshmallows because this can cause them to burn if not careful.
  4. Serve: Once the marshmallows are browned to desired amount, remove them from the oven, and serve warm.
